MARINER & KRAKEN

Data from both the HSE and Statoil (Now Equinor) shows that mooring line incidents will occur every 8 project years which implies that mooring line change out will be required within the project life. The development and subsequent installation of the BTC connector on the Mariner and Kraken fields in the North Sea was the first simple pull through device which allows simple connection and disconnection of the mooring lines.

Operating with an ROV insertable load pin the system allows the mooring system to be pre laid and each mooring line to be quickly hooked up in less than 2 hours saving a huge amount of time and eliminating the need for complex rigging.
