CUF - Tensioning
Challenge Improve Deliver
The compact under water fairlead was designed to be mounted on a top loaded suction pile to enable mooring line tensioning without the need to complicate the turret plug that attaches to the vessel. This version includes an SMC at the interface that in conjunction with the BTC allows the easy removal of the entire mooring line.
There are multiple variations of what can be achieved. The example shown is from Bangladesh where water depth is so shallow that the only location to tension is at the suction pile. The dual axis joint is required due to the tolerance on the suction pile installation accuracy (+/- 5deg azimuth typically). Without the Dual Axis joint azimuth skew loads would be imposed on the fairlead creating an undesirable wear and fatigue condition.
