Shell Vito
Challenge Improve Deliver
Shell’s Vito project in the Gulf of Mexico is the first of a series of optimised semi subs where the goal is to substantially reduce the size of the platform without compromising production capacity or safety.
Shell had previously used in line tensioning on the Stones project however lessons learned suggested that in line tensioning could be further developed.
Flintstone-MacGregor were contracted to supply the new design of in line tensioner and Biaxial mooring joints.
The tensioner development continues to further reduce weight and improve operability to enable tensioning operations to be taken away from the hull improving safety and reducing installation time the original goal of Flintstone.
